Ceremonial speeches and thanks were given to the movers and shakers of the events in Madison while the rest of us patiently waited for the reception to officially begin. Above from left to right: Hisako Harasawa, Tamlyn and Chuck Haig, and Yumi Nakayama.

This beautiful quilt, made by Hisako with silk fabrics, took her two years to stitch.

This is a friendship quilt created by Hisako and friends and then hand quilted by Toshiko. It took them a year to make.

An Evening with Friends

The day before the Madison exhibit reception, several of us got together at the Paesels' lakeside home. Fred Paesel provided us with pontoon boat tours along the shore of Lake Monona and the Yahara River.

It was a bracing October afternoon and Hisako, Toshiko, and I braved the trip with blankets and wine for warmth. Here I am bundled up in my winter jacket.

Afterward we walked over to the Continental Cafe for a delicious meal.
