The Nakamura country home where we spent the weekend.

Fresh chestnuts and persimmons.

We could just barely see Mount Fuji through a hazy morning veil.

Masao Yamauchi's ceramics studio is a short walk down the driveway.
Masao with his supremely crafted vase.

Hiroko and studio mascot.
Tamlyn posed with the calligraphy artist, Hiroko Yamauchi.

The flames were fanned for a hot meal.

The soup with soft shell crab was ready.

The table was set. Michiko served the soup.

Minoru served the drinks.

A demonstration of noodle making.
Colorful berries were discovered during the day and after dinner we were treated to Masao's marvelous flute music, followed by the chef's unexpected harmonica melodies.

Michiko Yanagi and Fujiko Isomura shared a quiet conversation.

The neighbors played a game of Japanese croquet.
