Sometimes working wet into wet and at other times wet into dry, I find watercolor often has a life of it’s own beyond what I intended. I enjoy the unpredictability of this medium.
The paradoxical qualities of paper fascinate me. It is malleable and yet quite strong at the same time. While it is folded into man-made geometric shapes, it retains it’s organic origin from plants and trees.
Soft chalk pastels lend themselves to being worked directly with my hands and resonate with echoes of finger painting in my childhood.
