Winter Aspen was inspired by the tree in my own front yard. I was struck by how silvery white the bark of this tree became in winter. Set against a cold blue sky it has a striking effect on the viewer when seen actual size. This painting was selected for the "Watercolor Wisconsin: Celebrating 25 Years" exhibition at the Wustum Museum of Art in Racine. It was purchased by a friend who tells me whenever we meet how much she cherishes it.
